Trailer Alert: Superman and Batman Face off in DC’s Injustice

Based on the popular video game and comics, “Injustice” imagines a world where Superman becomes a tyrant.

Based on the popular video games, which also inspired several critically acclaimed comics, Injustice puts a pretty grim spin on some of the world’s greatest and most beloved superheroes. After the Joker kills Lois Lane and her unborn child and destroys Metropolis, Superman murders the Clown Prince of Crime and establishes himself as Earth’s dictator in order to wipe out crime once and for all. Standing against him is Batman, who leads a ragtag group of superheroes in a desperate battle to stop the Man of Steel’s growing tyranny.

I’ve been a big fan of DC’s various animated movies over the years, especially the various Justice League titles like Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, Justice League: War, and Justice League Dark: Apokolips War. It only makes sense that DC would eventually do an Injustice movie. Not only were the original video games and comic books hugely successful, but the story itself is fantastic, exploring all manner of moral and ethical conundrums as both Superman and Batman go to greater extremes in their attempt to defeat one another. Plus, it features some pretty epic confrontations between characters from every corner of the DC universe.

Injustice will be released on both disc and streaming on October 19. I only hope that it includes the scene where Alfred Pennyworth beats up Superman singlehandedly (with the help of some Kryptonian technology).
