Watch the First Trailer for Netflix’s Scott Pilgrim Takes Off

The animated adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s graphic novels arrives this November.

It’s a tale as old as time. Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love with girl. Boy must battle girl’s evil exes in order to date her. Welcome to the world of Scott Pilgrim. Originally published between 2004 and 2010, Bryan Lee O’Malley’s Scott Pilgrim graphic novels amassed quite the cult following, and for good reason: they’re hilarious and filled with nerdy goodness.

Previously adapted into a live-action movie by Edgar Wright in 2010, O’Malley’s comics have been turned into an animated series by director Abel Góngora (who previously worked on Devilman Crybaby, Garo: The Animation, and Star Wars: Visions). The above trailer makes it pretty clear that the series is totally tapping into the comics’ vibe. What’s more, the cast of the 2010 movie is returning to voice their characters, including Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers, and Chris Evans as Lucas Lee.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off begins streaming on Netflix on November 17, 2023.
